Actions

All actions run within the organization represented by the selected Bahasha connection. Number ownership, wallet charging, and WhatsApp messaging rules are enforced in the same way as messages sent from Bahasha.

Send Template Message

Sends an approved WhatsApp template. Template messages can start or reopen a conversation, so this is the correct action when the recipient’s 24-hour customer-service window is closed.

After selecting a phone number and template, Zapier generates the required fields from the template’s expected_variables, including:

  • Named or positional header and body variables.
  • Image, video, document, or location headers.
  • Button variables.
  • Carousel card line items.

Only approved templates owned by the authorized organization are available.

Send Freeform Message

Sends a text message during an open 24-hour customer-service window.

Inputs include:

  • Recipient phone number.
  • Message text.
  • Optional URL preview.
  • Optional reply-to message ID.

If the service window is closed, the action returns 409. Use Send Template Message instead.

Send Media Message

Sends an image, video, audio file, or document from a public direct HTTPS URL. This action also requires an open 24-hour customer-service window.

Inputs vary by media type and can include:

  • Caption for supported media.
  • Document filename.
  • Voice-note mode for supported audio.
  • Reply-to message ID.

The media URL must be a public, direct HTTPS file URL. A webpage containing a file is not a direct media URL.

Create Contact

Creates a Bahasha contact with supported fields such as name, normalized phone number, email, tags, segment, and custom attributes.

Use Find or Create Contact when the workflow should avoid creating a duplicate contact.

Update Contact

Updates a selected Bahasha contact. The action supports names, phone number, email, tags, segment, and custom attributes.

Custom attributes use merge behavior by default, which preserves unrelated attributes already stored on the contact.

Messaging requirements

  • Only message recipients who have opted in to hear from your organization.
  • Use an approved template to start or reopen a conversation.
  • Free-form text and media require an open 24-hour customer-service window.
  • Ensure the organization wallet has enough balance before running a messaging action.
